WWDC24, Apple’s annual software-focused event, kicks off with a pre-taped keynote on June 10 with limited in-person attendance for developers and students.
The five-day event will kick off with a video keynote that will feature Tim Cook and his lieutenants tasked with previewing the best new features coming to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 15 and visionOS 2 this fall.
It will be followed by a State of the Union address in the afternoon, aimed at nerds, which will provide a technical deep dive into Apple’s latest platform technologies.
Like other Apple keynotes held since the pandemic, this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will mostly be a virtual gathering, with the keynote and all of the sessions videos and materials freely available online.
WWDC24 is running from June 10 through June 14

The company notes that this year’s conference will include technical video sessions and “opportunities to engage with Apple designers and engineers and connect with the worldwide developer community.”

Special Event at Apple Park
As per an announcement in the Apple Newsroom, there’ll be limited in-person attendance at the Apple Park headquarters on opening day for select developers and students. This Special Event, as Apple calls it, will include group keynote watching, meeting with Apple’s team members and participating “in special activities.”
Developers and students must request to attend this Special Event.
Apple will also notify the Swift Student Challenge applicants of their status on March 28. Winners will be eligible to apply for the in-person experience at Apple Park. “Fifty Distinguished Winners, who are recognized for outstanding submissions, will be invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience,” Apple explains.
The iOS 18 beta, AI news and more
The company is widely expected to preview generative AI features for its Siri assistant in iOS 18 after OpenAI’s ChatGPT caught it on the wrong foot.
Of course, the iPhone maker will release the first developer previews of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 15, watchOS 11 and visionOS 2 on June 10, after the keynote has wrapped up. Public betas will follow in a few weeks, most likely in July.
