At the beginning of March, we showed you a jailbreak tweak called Sushi by iOS developer Skitty that brought an attractive new Now Playing widget with music controls to jailbroken iOS 13-16 devices.
Now, iOS developer b4db1r3 is attempting to further improve the tweak’s features with their own unique spin on the tweak that they’re now releasing as a separate project called Omakase.
According to the release post shared to /r/jailbreak, the Omakase tweak is intended to be a remix of Skitty’s Sushi tweak with enhanced features and to be adapted to b4db1r3’s preferences.
Among the unique features that Omakase brings to the table are:
- A movable artwork banner on the left edge of the screen, which you can slide vertically
- A single tap expands the banner to reveal media controls
- A long press takes you directly to the Now Playing app
- An ‘X’ button that conveniently closes the view
- Additional options for background customization
Once installed, you will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can play with a few options:
Things you can do here include:
- Toggle Omakase on or off on demand
- Enable or disable white mode
- Set the background to the artwork color
- Display a test banner
If you’re interested in an enhanced Now Playing widget user experience, then you can download Omakase for free from b4db1r3’s personal repository via your favorite package manager app. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13-16 devices.
