We talk about Topaz Photo AI a lot around here when we mention photo editing software, and that’s because Topaz Labs has built a name for itself in the photography community for developing AI-based software that can work real magic on images that might otherwise seem unsalvageable.
Fortunately, the Topaz Labs team continues to improve upon its software, and the recent version 3.3.0 update is a testament to that. Citing the team’s blog post about this update, we can gather that some of the major highlights in this release include the following:
- Super Focus: A powerful utility that can help photographers salvage images where the camera may have missed the focus or are otherwise completely out of focus. This tool can examine even the blurriest of images and make out subjects to rebuild details that otherwise wouldn’t look aesthetically pleasing in the original botched image.
- Recover Faces Generation 2: A face recovery tool that can boost the resolution of older grainy images to look like they were taken with a more modern camera. Trained specifically for faces, this model offers both realistic and creative modes, depending on whether you prefer a more natural effect or a more interesting one.
- Improved Autopilot Strengths for Denoise and Sharpen: The Topaz Photo AI software’s autopilot mode has been improved in terms of its Denoise and Sharpen features, lending itself to improved results. These modes offer default values, but you can personalize them as well, creating a more unifying look and feel across all your images.
- Updated Remove Tool Design: The Remove Tool can now be found on the right side of the application, next to the Super Focus Tool. While working with the Remove Tool, a new workspace appears with options to tweak the Remove Tool’s parameters while you use it for more precise image editing.
- Improved Color Accuracy for Nikon and Sony RAW Files: Photographers working with either a Nikon or a Sony camera will find that the latest update improves the color accuracy when working with RAW files captured with these cameras. These improvements ensure that you get a more precise view of what you’re working with, so you’ll know when the image looks its best.
Other, perhaps less-exciting features in this update, include:
- Updates to the preference menu
- The release of Photo AI Pro for businesses with annual revenues of over $1 million
- Automatic Lensfun update
- And more…
If you’re already a Topaz Photo AI user, then you’ll be prompted to install the v3.3.0 update the next time you launch the application. This update is highly recommended for all eligible users, as it provides powerful enhancements for both novice and professional photographers alike who want quick and effortless photo-improvement tools at the click of a button.
Those wanting to try Topaz Photo AI out for themselves to see what app the hubbub is all about can buy a license of their own from the Photo AI section of Topaz Labs’ website for $199. Note that the software often goes on sale, so it might be worth waiting if you don’t need it right away. It’s also available for both macOS and Windows machines, so almost anyone can use it.
